Are your children

physically active?

·   Are you concerned they are not getting

    enough exercise?

·   Are you frustrated by cuts made to

    physical education programs?

·   Do you find that your child isn't interested

in organized sports because he or she is

    not "good enough"?

·   Do you have an athletic child who could

benefit from some training in running?

·   Are you concerned that the fun has been

taken out of exercise for your children?

·   Is your child overweight and in need of

    physical exercise?

racelab can help!!

·   Our program are based on fun.  We don't stand on the sidelines and "coach", we work with the kids, creating a fun game-based approach to fitness. They learn about running and staying fit without even realizing it.

·   Our programs focus on the good in athletics and sport. Through game and fun, we teach sportsmanship, teamwork, creative problem solving and much more.

·   We encourage sport for wellness sake.  It is not important that a child or adult excel in a sport for them to benefit from it.  We teach our kids to value the improvement in themselves without unnecessary comparisons to others.

Some alarming statistics

·   The occurrence of overweight or obesity in adolescent children between the ages 12 and 19 has nearly tripled in the past two decades.*

·   Overweight adolescents have a 70% chance of becoming overweight or obese adults.  This increases to 80% if one or more parent is overweight or obese.*

·   Risk factors for heart disease, such as high cholesterol and high blood pressure, occur with increased frequency in overweight children and overweight or obese adults are at risk for a number of health problems including heart disease, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and some forms of cancer.*

·   Treatment of obesity and related illnesses costs exceed $115 Billion annually, is rising sharply and already exceeds the costs for tobacco related illnesses.

·   The most immediate consequence of overweight as perceived by the children themselves is social discrimination.  This is associated with poor self-esteem and depression.*

The schools aren't helping

·   51% of high school students are not rigorously active

·   Only 29% of high school students had daily physical education in 1999 – down from 42% in 1991

·   Only 61% of students in K-12 had gym class at least once each week
·   School budget woes forcing cuts in arts, trades, and athletics

·   The federal deficit will force the states to reduce spending further ($400 Billion – $ 1 Trillion is on the horizon)

·   Interscholastic athletics only serving 20% of students – just the best 3 out of 5 kids ages 9-13 do not participate in sports or coached physical activities
