Dave Marks - Mtn Biker, Adv Racer & Jack of all trades
A CAT-1 mountain biker with a sub 17 minute 5k PR, Dave was more involved in "mainstream" sports until a four-story fall off his apartment complex left him unable to do anything active but bike and run in the early 1990's. Yet it wasn't until Dave was asked to join a local adventure racing team that he truly found his niche. Adding kayaking and navigation to his ability to tow others (or just carry the heavy stuff) Dave became a well-known fixture in the National Adventure Racing scene, racing for title sponsors such as Red Bull, Revo sunglasses and Monster Energy. However his greatest adventure racing "victory" was meeting his wife Windy while racing on the Timex Adventure Racing team.
During the sport's heyday, Dave served as Head coach for Racelab's Adventure Racing program. Afterwards, Dave stayed on with Racelab coaching cycling and running workouts. Acting as "bad cop" to Head coach Bettina Warnholtz's "good cop," Dave is known for his creative but often brutal workouts.
He is Head Cycling Coach for Racelab's Mountain Bike Program.
He and Windy are very active in the MTB Racing scene and other long distance events. Their latest adventures include Tandem mountain biking where they have either won or "podium'd" at events such as the Leadville 100, Barn Burner 104 and Sea Otter Classic.
In the winter of 2014, Dave plans on doing his first 100+ mile mountain bike snow race..
